In the early spring, there is a lack of green feed, and in rural areas, hay and crop straw are generally used to feed livestock. In order to improve the value of feed utilization, four notes should be taken when hay processing and feeding livestock:
1. The blade is more important. In various hay and straw, the leaf part contains more nutrients than the stem. For example, the digestible protein content of the leaves of alfalfa hay is more than 3 times higher than that of the stem, the crude fat and calcium are 2.5 times higher, the phosphorus is 0.5 times higher, the carotene is mainly present in the leaves, and the crude fiber content of the leaves is only the stem. 1/3. Therefore, be careful not to lose or discard the blades when processing the preparation.
2. Good mix of coarse and fine materials. Crude feed, especially straw and clam shell, has a low net energy content and a large volume. As a basic feed for livestock such as growth, fattening, labor, and milk production, it should be matched with a small volume and a high net energy content. However, roughage is indispensable as a feed for horses and cattle during leisure periods.
3. Do not feed a single roughage. Single grass stalks, such as straw, wheat straw, etc., contain crude protein, calcium, phosphorus, etc., which cannot meet the nutritional requirements of livestock. They should be fed with leguminous straw with more protein and calcium content to improve feed. Utilization rate. In particular, do not use a single straw to feed livestock for a long time. A single wheat straw can easily cause ruminal flaccid disease in ruminant livestock, and cause diseases such as chronic dyspepsia in single stomach livestock. The roughage is also generally deficient in phosphorus and carotene. Therefore, when feeding, appropriate amount of bone powder, stone powder, shell powder and greenish feed should be added.
4. Straw should be chopped and fed. Before feeding, the upper part of the straw should be cut off. The upper part of the straw can be cut into small pieces of 3 cm long to feed the cattle; cut into 1.5 cm long to feed horses, donkeys, donkeys and sheep; feed the pigs to be crushed.
