Correct application of potassium fertilizer

To master the correct application of potash fertilizer, attention should be paid to the following four aspects:

(1) Due to soil application. As the current shortage of potash resources, potassium fertilizer should be placed in the first area of serious potassium deficiency. When the general soil available potassium is lower than 80mg/kg, the effect of potash fertilizer is obvious, and potassium fertilizer should be added; when the soil available potassium is 80-120mg/kg, no potassium is applied. From the soil texture, the content of available potassium in sandy soil is often low, and potassium fertilizer should be added. The content of available potassium in clay soil is often high, and it can be applied less or not. Potassium sulfate can be applied to soils that lack potassium and sulfur, and potassium chloride cannot be applied to saline soils.

(2) due to crop application. Shiki potassium crops such as legumes, potato crops, sugar cane, sugar beet, cotton, tobacco and other cash crops, as well as corn cereals, hybrid rice and so on.

In most rainy areas or areas with irrigation conditions and good drainage conditions, potassium chloride can be applied to most crops. For a few economic crops to improve quality, potassium chloride should not be used. According to the requirements of the product traits and its use in agricultural production, the rational application of potash fertilizer is determined. In addition, because different crops require different amounts of potassium and roots have different potassium uptake capacities, the degree of response of crops to potash fertilizers is also different. From the results of years of potash fertilizer application, the yield of potash fertilizer on rice, corn, cotton, sweet potato, and oil crops increased. The best results can reach 11.7% to 43.3%, followed by wheat and other crops.

(3) Pay attention to potassium fertilization. In the rice-rice rotation, since early rice has more organic fertilizer, late rice does not generally use organic fertilizer. Therefore, potassium fertilizer should be applied to late rice. In winter wheat and summer maize rotations, potassium fertilizer should be given priority to corn.

(4) Pay attention to the reasonable mix between potash varieties. Potassium sulfate should be used for tobacco, sugar crops and fruit trees. Potassium chloride is more suitable for fiber crops. Due to the high cost of potassium sulfate, potassium sulfate can be used in high-efficiency and economic crops; and for general field crops, except for a few chlorine-sensitive crops, cheaper potassium chloride should be used.
