Compact, high efficiency cold trap and lyophilizer Genevac's new miVac SpeedTrapTM frost-free cold trap not only provides unmatched volatile solvent recovery, but also freezes up to 250 ml of solution samples.
The new generation of SpeedTrapTM traps can be used in a wide range of solvents, from volatile organic solvents to water and even high boiling solvents, including 1,4-dioxane, tert-butanol, and cyclohexane. Although SpeedTrapTM is designed to work with Genevac's miVac range of concentrators, it can be applied to concentrators from other manufacturers if the range of concentrated solvent samples is compatible.
The SpeedTrapTM cold trap can be used with a high vacuum pump as a stand-alone small freeze dryer. It can also be used in conjunction with a concentrator to create a combined system that combines concentration and lyophilization.
The function and design of the new SpeedTrapTM trap is completely different. It is very small and does not require a lot of space and is only 212 mm (8.3 inches) wide. The condensing coil is suspended directly in the steam circuit so that the solution vapor condenses directly into the coil and then flows to the lower collection vessel. This method has many advantages, including high efficiency, condensation capacity is more than twice that of similar cold traps; users can quickly see the solvent in the cold trap; it is convenient to empty the cold trap; no defrosting is required. An automatic defrost mode ensures that the user does not have to spend time doing any defrosting of the system, even when using water. The collection container can be easily and easily removed to ensure safe handling of the solvent.
