Stands that have not entered the consolidation period should not be truncated. The truncated aim is to increase seed production but also take into account wood production and material needs. It is best to choose a stand more than 30 years old. Below the truncated site, there should be at least 10 meters high trunk, which can meet the needs of 8 meters, 6 meters, and 4 meters.
For forest stands where the density is too large to be promoted, the forest shall be thinned first. The thinning intensity is carried out according to the "Technical Regulations for the Construction of Korean Pine Coniferous Plantation Forest", and then it is truncated.
Control the seed collection period. The start of seed production should be controlled after September 15. At this point, the nutrient index of the seed kernel reaches its maximum, and the cones turn yellow. It is easy to fall off when the seeds are harvested, and it is not easy to damage the trees when the seeds are harvested. If the seeds are collected too early, the cones are greener and the handles are firmly on the tops of the tree tops. Excessive hitting will easily break the tree head and cause secondary truncations, which will lead to low production for many years to come. In addition, early seed collection, poor seed quality, low grain weight, low seeding rate, low nutrient content, and failure to meet export product requirements, can be easily identified by purchasers, resulting in falling sales prices, high yields but no harvest, and severely affecting Regional seed brand image.
